file associations change +music

Hello,
I am running Mandriva 2006 free with KDE3.4.x and when I insert a cdrom or DVD
K3b automatically opens..Is there a way to set it so that K3b does not open and I select what program to open?
I looked but could not find how to change the file associations..
not a big deal but annoying..Also annoying ,where can I change the music when the desktop loads..
Thank you for any help,
jolphil
