ffmpeg vs mplayer

Hi, anyone knows whats generally fastest when converting music from wma, ram, mp3, flac etc. into ogg vorbis? Mplayer has to convert into wav and then use oggenc to convert into ogg, while ffmpeg can convert directly, but still I feel that ffmpeg is very slow.
Anyone knows what is the fastest and best to use?

If the combined mplayer and oggenc are faster than ffmpeg then just do a little piping:

#!/bin/sh
mplayer -ConvertToWavComannd $1 > /tmp/mplayer.wav
oggenc /tmp/mplayer.wav > $2

Just run the script followed by the file and the file you want it to be.

Otherwise I don't have any idea. At least this way you can take advantage of mplayer's ability to do all of the file types it supports.
