ffmpeg no image formats

hi all

i'm trying to install ffmpeg, but i'm having problems with image formats
i'm using a version that i downloaded earlier this year (2005-04-25)

but when i run ffmpeg -formats
all i see under image formats is
gif

where are the rest? how do i get the rest (especially jpeg)?

i'm using redhat 9, but this also happens on a redhat el3 system we have

i have this old version of ffmpeg 2004-11-10 that does have images on the el3 box
but i can't get anything on the redhat 9 machine
i need to use the newer version because it supports 3gp better

this is what it says on the el3 machine that has the old version of ffmpeg
Code:
Image formats (filename extensions, if any, follow):
 D pnm
  E pbm pbm
  E pgm pgm
  E ppm ppm
 DE pam pam
 DE pgmyuv pgmyuv
 DE yuv Y
 DE png png
 DE jpeg jpg,jpeg
 DE gif gif
 DE sgi sgi,rgb,rgba,bw
and as i said, on this rh9 box i can only get gif's, and also when i tried installing the newer ffmpeg on the el3 box

thanks
dave

ok, i think i know why there are no image formats, it's because libogg/libvorbis don't seem to be installed
but i ran up2date libogg, and libvorbis, and the respective devel packages
and they installed,
but whenever i run configure for ffmpeg, it always says
Code:
configure --host=i686-redhat-linux-gnu --build=i686-redhat-linux-gnu
--target=i386-redhat-linux-gnu --program-prefix= --prefix=/usr --exec-prefix=/usr
 --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --sysconfdir=/etc --datadir=/usr/share
--includedir=/usr/include --libdir=/usr/lib --libexecdir=/usr/libexec
--localstatedir=/var --sharedstatedir=/usr/com --mandir=/usr/share/man
--infodir=/usr/share/info --extra-cflags=-O2 -g -pipe -march=i386 -mcpu=i686
--enable-mp3lame --enable-vorbis --enable-faad --enable-faac --enable-xvid
--enable-pp --enable-shared-pp --enable-shared --enable-gpl --disable-strip
--enable-amr_nb

libogg must be enabled to enable Vorbis
ok, so i added in --enable-libogg, but i get a different error now, so something to work on i guess

Code:
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/redhat/BUILD/ffmpeg-cvs-2005-04-25/libavformat'
gcc -Wl,--warn-common -rdynamic -g -o ffmpeg_g ffmpeg.o cmdutils.o -L./libavformat -lavformat -L./libavcodec -lavcodec -L./libavcodec/libpostproc -lpostproc -lm -lz -ldl -lvorbisenc -lvorbis -logg -lfaad -lfaac -lxvidcore
./libavcodec/libavcodec.so: undefined reference to `ac3_decoder'
./libavcodec/libavcodec.so: undefined reference to `a52_syncinfo'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [ffmpeg_g] Error 1
error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.35231 (%build)

RPM build errors:
Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.35231 (%build)
that's with libogg enabled, even though i shouldn't need to have it there cos it's not in the other working one
what's the deal?

dave
