Few basic user questions comparing linux with windows

I am going to try and replace windows on my laptop with FedoraC6 or Ubuntu linux.
With windows I have 3 user accounts. Home,Work,School
I have it setup so that when I log on at home it connects to my Wireless and defaults to my home printer and maps my media server.
Same thing for work and school but maps to different shares and sets a different printer to default.
I also have it set to use a Community MY Documents.
Can I do this with my Linux install so that when I am at work I can just click print and not have to worry that it will try and print on my unconnected home printer?

Yes, but you'll need to use samba to connect to the various "shares." (Since you refer to hem as "shares," I assume that they are "Windows" network devices. Although, if they are "pure" network devices, you may be able to connect to them without samba.)

There's a samba tutorial in the Tutorials section of this forum. (Just click on the "Tutorials" link at the top pf the page.)

Yes. i have used samba before. Actually at work the shares are on a FC5 box that is running samba. At home it is XP and at school I think a mixture.
