Fetchmail problem
I've used Fetchmail for quite some time now to fetch mail from different mail servers and put it into my mailbox for reading using pine/mutt. However about a week ago fetchmail just stoopped working. I don't know why, maybe the pop3 server admins changed something, but i cant figure out what.
Here is the output from fetchmail -d0 -v --nosyslog if someone can figure out whats wrong: fetchmail: 6.2.2 querying ciaopop3.ciaoweb.it (protocol POP3) at Sun Nov 16 13:23:54 2003: poll started It looks like your local SMTP server is unable to resolve any of the sender hostnames. Fetchmail is using your SMTP on Slackbox.local to deliver the messages it obtained from the remote MSExchange server to your local mailbox. Each time fetchmail is getting a message, it hands it off to sendmail who promptly says that it can't resolve the hostname in the sender's address, and resets the connection. It's probably sending a rejection notice back to the sender.
Did something change in your DNS setup recently? Check your /etc/resolv.conf, and see if you can ping any of the hosts, or at least resolve them with dig or nslookup. |
Hmm, nslookup returns this:
Note: nslookup is deprecated and may be removed from future releases. Consider using the `dig' or `host' programs instead. Run nslookup with the `-sil[ent]' option to prevent this message from appearing. Server: 212.216.112.222 Address: 212.216.112.222#53 Non-authoritative answer: 162.172.216.212.in-addr.arpa name = ns2.tin.it. Authoritative answers can be found from: 216.212.in-addr.arpa nameserver = dnsca.tin.it. 216.212.in-addr.arpa nameserver = ns.ripe.net. 216.212.in-addr.arpa nameserver = dns.tin.it. dns.tin.it internet address = 194.243.154.62 dnsca.tin.it internet address = 195.31.190.31 which i guess looks fine... Any other ideas? I guess i'll have to contact my ISP and find what the hell they did. Lately they've been changing a LOT of stuff so i wouldn't be surprised if they changed something with the mail server as well... Thanks for help -NSKL |
