Fetchmail, downloading only email I don't already have

At the moment I have Fetchmail grabbing my emails from an IMAP server. Basically I want to keep the messages on the server (as I use Squirrelmail on the same box as the IMAP server to read it from time to time) but also to only download the mail I haven't already downloaded. Note that by this I don't mean unread messages, as I may have already read them in Squirrelmail.
Is there any way to do this? Thanks so much for any help!
