Festival + MBROLA for text-to-speech

I installed the Festival TTS software, but like a lot of people, wasn't very happy with the voices they give you. So, I followed the instructions in http://www.cstr.ed.ac.uk/projects/festival/mbrola.html to add voices from the MBROLA project. It doesn't seem like anything went wrong with the installation, everything's where it's supposed to be, but when I tell festival "voice_us1_mbrola" (us1_mbrola being the one I installed) it gives me this wonderfully formatted message:

#<CLOSURE n (let ((me voice_us1_mbrola)) (require "/usr/share/festival/voices/english/us1_mbrola/festvox/us1_mbrola") (if (eq me voice_us1_mbrola) (error (string-append "autoload: \"" "/usr/share/festival/voices/english/us1_mbrola/festvox/us1_mbrola" ".scm\" does not define " (quote voice_us1_mbrola)))) (apply voice_us1_mbrola n))>

The file us1_mbrola.scm is in the place it refers to, but that's all I can think of to check. Anybody know what it's trying to tell me?

Well, for anyone who cares, I fixed this problem, though I'm not sure how. I compiled the sources for the newest version of Festival (1.95-beta I think) instead of using the package "yum" gives me (a much older version). For some reason it worked ok with the newer version, so I recommend compiling it yourself for anyone who wants to do anything odd with the Festival software (such as add more voices).
