feh 'configure'd but error during 'make' stage.

Hi,
I may be wrong but I always thought if a package 'configure'd properly then it would 'make' without any problem. Atleast till I tried to compile 'feh'.

I read README file and it is regular "./configure->make->make install" stuff. The ./configure went smoothly without giving any errors. But during 'make' I get the following error.

Code:
In file included from main.c:32:
support.h:30:85: error: X11/Intrinsic.h: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [main.o] Error 1
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
I have installed 'feh' twice, once on Ubuntu from repo and once compiled on Slack. Had not faced this problem before.

Can somebody help me with this?

P.S.: Btw, config.log ends with exit 0 which means it completed successfully right? If you want this or any other log will provide you.

Thanks in advance...

Quote:
X11/Intrinsic.h: No such file or directory
ls /usr/include/X11/Intrinsic.h
/usr/include/X11/Intrinsic.h

grep Intrinsic.h /var/log/packages/*
/var/log/packages/libXt-1.0.6-i486-1:usr/include/X11/Intrinsic.h

.. So you are missing the package 'libXt'

'libXt' is on disk 2 : slackware/x/libXt-1.0.6-i486-1.txz
.....
P.S. : Not all 'configure' scripts are perfect. Just be happy,
that the error indication is as clear, as the above.
Compile a thousand more app's and see for yourself.

Hi knudfl,
Thanks for your reply. I'm sorry I should have mentioned that I was trying to compile 'feh' on CentOS; on Slack I did not have problem.

I tried the ls command and it showed that Intrinsic.h was present. There was no /var/log/packages/ in my system so tried
Code:
yum whatprovides */Intrinsic.h
This showed that both libXt and libXt-devel were present but one more package 'xulrunner-devel' was providing the same file. So, I installed xulrunner-devel and then it compiled fine.

Thanks a lot. Will not trust configure script blindly nowon... ;-)
