fedora, php, mysql

Dear LinuxQusetions,

I am having trouble with php and mysql interfacing. eg phpmyadmin is not working. I get the following error:

phpMyAdmin - Error

Cannot load mysql extension. Please check your PHP configuration. - Documentation

This is what I have done so far:

Just did a clean install of fedora 5 and did the updates.

Started apache and mysql, and they are running.

phpMyAdmin does not working.

"yum install php-mysql". that goes ok.

phpMyAdmin is still not working.

I have restarted mysql and apache several times, and rebooted the computer several times for good luck.

Is there a problem with the Fedora 5 and phpMyAdmin?

Thanks

George
