fedora installation problem with intel 32E
Am trying to install Fedora for AMD 64 in a Intel 32 E (x86_64) platform.
I get "Your CPU does not support long mode." message in installation and aborts. Intel's 32E-64bit is said to be compatible with AMD64. But why this message?. Marudhu. |
if you are trying to install FC1 on an intel chip with the AMD64 it's not going to work to well. cause if it's the 3.2E intel chip it won't work cause it's not 64-bit based. Thus the AMD64.

FYI, Intel too have their x86_64 version processor. They announced that they are compatible with amd64 !.
I tried to install Fedora Core 2..but still I couldnt install. |
The only 64-bit intel chip I know of is the Intanium and the ItaniumII but the intel's Pentium 4 A,B,C and E class chips aren't 64-bit. They are all 32.

Intel has made a copy of AMD64 !. They call that as IA32E.
check this link... http://www.intel.com/technology/64bitextensions/index.htm |
they are still working on the 64-bit chip because none of their chips currently support 64-bit architecture. they are trying to play catch-up with AMD but they don't have any 64-bit chips or boards.

Yeah...May be not released commercialy yet...
Am working in their pre-release reference board. |
