Fedora Core 5 Kernel

Hi,
I am a newbie to linux, this is my 2nd installation of a it. 1st RH9 and now FC5.
I just installed FC5 to be a dual boot on P4 machine.
It seems to work fine with no problems.
When I wanted to make my Dell 1450 wireless card to work, I discovered it is not supported.
One of the ways to install it is to use ndiswrapper program.
However, when I tired installing it, it looks for the Kernel Compile directory.
When I tried to look for it in /usr/src I couldn't find it.
To make it short, I just spent my weekend trying to recompile the kernel, the original 2.6.25 and the new one 2.6.16. I was able to do it, but ndiswrapper didn't like the new modules and kept installing in the old ones.

My questions are:

1. Where does FC5 install the kernel?
2. Do I need to ask for the kernel to bo complied during installation?

the kernel itself (compiled) is generally installed in /boot, the source ends up in /usr/src/kernels. Hopefully that helps. You'll need the source to recompile.

Take a look at this site: http://rpm.livna.org/kernel-modules.html
It should shed some light on the topic.
