I built a 2.6.30 kernel and ran mkinitrd to build an initrd. Everything seems to work fine almost all the time, except that occasionally on boot the initrd fails to hand off to the root (which is on an lvm2 device). This occurs when on screen message shows that it is reading lvm metadata. I was wondering if anyone knew whether the 2.6.30 dm drivers required an upgraded version of lvm from what would have shipped with fedora 9? Stock kernel initrd and ubuntu stock kernel and initrd read the lvm metadata without any problems.
