seeing as this is an older computer
is it possible to install CentOS 6 on it and see it everything works
fedora 16 might just be "way to new" for the older hardware

Thanks everyone for responding!

through this thread, I have learned a lot! The issue is resolved after I replace the Matrox Millinum with a much newer GeForce 6200 with 512MB.

Now the nice new GNome also shows up. Wonderful screen layout and organization.

My movies also play, but not in VLC, though. It's fine for me.
