Fedora 11 Shutdown problem

Hi All,

I recently upgraded my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to FC11. It was working fine until I accidentally closed the laptop while it was running. I opened it, but all I got was a blank screen and I had to hard reboot. After that every time I try to shutdown, it doesn't shut down properly.

Here's what happens when I click on shutdown button.

1. I hear a beep sound
2. I see the shutting down screen only for a fraction of a second and then I get a blank black screen. (I can see that there is some shutdown activity happening, the hard disk led is blinking)
3. The system shuts down.

So the problem is - I no longer see any of the services shutting down logs on the screen during the shutdown. Also the annoying beep sound. (I think its indicating that something is wrong).

Is there any way to fix this problem?

Goodevening, the same issue was with Fedora 9.
To see which services are shuttingdown you could use the keycombination at shutdown: ALT+F1.

Instead of a blankscreen try consider using "plymouth"*.

Although personally seeing the services shuttingdown with [ok] etc. I'd like the most.

Ok, its not a problem with my laptop, I upgraded to FC11 in my office machine and here also the same thing happened. During shutdown I do not see the services shutting down [OK] message.
Thanks Ome_Roel for the ALT-F11 solution. That worked. But is there any way to revert back to the old, normal way of shutting down, i.e

1. Without the beep
2. With the services stopping log
