fedora 10 vlc cannot run as root

fedora 10 vlc cannot run as root nor can i run it as other user it has updated vlc for some security reason so that it cant be run as root.and also i cant run it as any other user...........
it gives some error that:
cannot determine privileged user to run vlc ....
so how should i be able to do it
or is there any option of installing the older version of vlc which does not have that feature.............
how should i install or compile older version of vlc .......
