FC6 Xserver GUI running but no mouse/keyboard control

Hello All,
I have been trying to install FC6 on a machine I have and when I did the install I did a full install with all the options, doing BOTH KDE and gnome. At first I could only get a boot in runlevel 3. I figured out that the problem did not involve virtual consoles (so ctrl+alt+f7 is out as an option). I was trying to catch the interactive setup but it seems to skip past the runlevel editing INIT before it will start running. I decided to try running the commands: startkde (failed to start correctly) and then I tried to start gdm but could not figure the right command for it, so I tried "startx" which worked, but now my screen seems frozen without a cursor and without keyboard control. I know the keyboard works, and I believe the mouse (ps/2) works right, because I can move the cursor in runlevel 3. Any solutions/ideas?

Problem # 1 solved

Actually I found out the solution. I typed in the "INIT 5" command and it brought up the GUI. It had a problem with my graphics card (Banshee), but I put an older ATI card in it and it worked fine after it reset it's visual settings.
