fc6 download failure

Hey. I recently installed fc6_64. My yum install methods are working fine. However, in order to make some installations, rpm files need to be downloaded (as an almost completely inept linux-user, please assure yourselves that I am stating this so that you know what I think is the case, not because I doubt yous know better than me.), for example to use adobe pdf reader, or realplayer10. However, when I click on the links (I'm using mozilla firefox for the record) nothing happens. I have no folder called Downloads, which seems a bit wrong, but creating one alone probably wouldn't achieve much. Hopefully, I'll have just stupidly missed some set-up stage, but I've been woried by references to 'moz firefox - 64bit version not being compatible with any plugins'? I'm rambling;
Any help you can give me will be most appreciated,
yours,
Jon
