Hey,
I got Wine running IE6 (as per Frank's Corner's instructions), but IE seems to be doing some weird things. Firstly, I should add that I'm a web developer, and use my linux machine as a webserver/database server for developing and testing my projects. Being an exclusively Mac/Linux user, it's vital that I test my sites in IE6. So, to avoid firing up VirtualPC on my Mac (as its a piece of crap, and slow as anything) I figured that Wine + IE6 ought to do the job nicely
However, whenever I try to open
http://localhost/somefolder/somefile.htm i get a connectino timed out error after 5 minutes or so. Weirdly, opening
http://localhost/ works fine, and the page is there. Basically, I can't open anything other than the directory index for the docroot on the machine! the directory index is a file called 'index.htm' (obviously) and
http://localhost/ works fine, but
http://localhost/index.htm times out. What's that all about??
Replacing localhost with my network IP, localhost aliases, my internet IP or the domain for this machine doesn't solve the problem either. Works fine on every other browser locally and remotely, on every other machine I've tried so obviously the problem lies with Wine/Internet Exploder.
Any pointers? Tips? Solutions?
Thanks in advance,
MrJ
