Framebuffer resolution

Hello there

I've got i810 graphic , I had to switch to this from a better card.
Anyways , If I try to run any application where I cannot specfic their videomodes it tries to run in 32bit , and I cant seam to get better then 800x600 with 32bit

Is there anyway I can put everything to always use 16bit?

EDIT: Sorry I wrote FB and not Framebuffer in the subject

Adding following into "Screen" section of your xorg.conf seems like a good idea

DefaultDepth 16

Comment out any other reference to this variable.
