Fatal Kismet Errors

Im trying to get the latest stable version of Kismet working on my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. Its currently running Slackware 10 with a custom 2.6.7 kernel. For my wireless card, I have a DWL-122 with the latest linux-wlan-ng driver. The card seems to be working fine, I can connect to my wireless network and all, but kismet seems to be causing me problems. I installed and configured it according to the readme, which went fine, but now when I try to start kismet, I get the following error messages:

Quote:
root@slackbox:~# kismet

need to manually restart the device and reconfigure it for normal

Kismet exiting.
root@slackbox:~#
The FATAL error appears to be what is shutting down kismet, but the WARNING appears to be disabling my wireless card from being used normally after attempting to run kismet. After this happens, I need to reboot my laptop in order to get my card working again. Does anyone have any ideas how I can fix this?

UPDATE:

A little research revealed that I need to run kismet from the home directory of whatever user I specified in the kismet.conf file. I did that, and it seemed to help a tiny bit. Now I get the following error message, after which my internet connection still works:

Quote:
bash-2.05b$ kismet
Server options: none
Client options: none
Starting server...
Waiting for server to start before startuing UI...
Will drop privs to eklipz (1000) gid 100
No specific sources given to be enabled, all will be enabled.
Enabling channel hopping.
Enabling channel splitting.
Source 0 (prism2source): Enabling monitor mode for wlanng_avs source interface wlan0 channel 6...
FATAL: command 'wlanctl-ng wlan0 lnxreq_ifstate ifstate=enable >/dev/null 2>/dev/null' failed.
