fat32 grayed out in gparted

I have a disk that is currently formatted using the ext3 filesystem. I would like to convert it to fat32 using gparted but it is grayed out (it's unmounted). The only filesystems that are available are ext2, ext3, linux-swap, and reiserfs. I have vfat support built into my kernel and I'm able to read/write to vfat media. What could be the problem?

Is it a logical or extended partition?

Logical. I just figured it out 5 minutes after you posted I was missing the dosfstools package. Everything works fine now.
