Failed to start X server with Geforce FX 5600... bullshit.

I would like to start by saying that I am a complete noob when it comes to using Linux (about 2 weeks into my experience), and I hardly know what I'm doing. That being said, I recently tried to install drivers for my nVidia Geforce FX 5600 graphics card because Linux has been giving me crap about it for a while. I was reluctant to do so at first since Linux was working well enough for me to do everything I really needed it to do, but when I found detailed instructions on exactly how to install the graphics card for my openSUSE 10.2 system on openSUSE wiki, I figured nothing could really go wrong. Boy was I in for a surprise.

Everything was alright when I installed the drivers, but once they finished installing, I figured I would restart my computer for good measure. Halfway through rebooting, I got an error message on a blue screen with I text box made up of some odd characters that trailed off to the right saying "Failed to start X server." It allowed me to hit enter for a more detailed description, which went on to tell me that my version of X server was unsupported and untested (a fact that I don't really understand since it came with the openSUSE iso I downloaded from the openSUSE website). Regardless, now I can't run my computer with any kind of graphic interface at all, and I am forced to use the basic terminal "DOS" type inerface in which I pretty much only know how to change directories, view directories, and not run any programs because it says that I can't diplay the graphics required. Any suggestions?

Again, the error message is "Failed to start X server."
I am running "openSUSE v.10.2 - Gnome"
My dysfunctional graphics card is an "nVidia Geforce FX 5600"
And my X server version numbers are:
"X Window System Version 7.1.99.902" and
"X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 7.7.99.902"
I am also a "NOOB"

Thanks,
Trey
