Failed dependencies with rpm

Hello,

I try to install some software to convert mpg files to DVD-compatible format.

For this, I need the mjpegtools. I installed them from my distro (SuSe 9.2) but something (the mpeg2enc) seems missing. So I downloaded the package and tried installing it with rpm.

However I can't figure out how to resolve one of the dependencies:

I got an error stating :

> rpm -i mjpegtools-1.6.2-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
libpng.so.2 is needed by mjpegtools-1.6.2-1

I checked my installation and found:

> locate libpng.so
/usr/lib/libpng.so
/usr/lib/libpng.so.3
/usr/lib/libpng.so.3.1.2.6

I thought creating a symlink (to libpng.so.3) was a good idea to solve this problem, which gave me:

> locate libpng.so
/usr/lib/libpng.so
/usr/lib/libpng.so.2
/usr/lib/libpng.so.3
/usr/lib/libpng.so.3.1.2.6

But rpm continues telling me that libpng.so.2 is needed.

What can I do to resolve this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

apt. that simple.
http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/home.html

grab the apt and apt libs file from here:
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/apt...MS.suser-rbos/

here is part of my sources.list file. Be careful and dont do any dist-upgrade or anything big. Just use it to install things you know you want.
/etc/apt/sources.list
