Failed dependencies in KDE Kpackage.

I am trying to install an RPM file in Kpackage for the xine win32 codecs. Everytime I try to install I get this:

Code:
<home/stevex/w32codec-0.52-1.i386.rpm';echo RESULT=$?
error: Failed dependencies:
	/bin/sh is needed by w32codec-0.52-1
RESULT=1
I know the /bin/sh is some kind of script or somthing, so I do I get things set-up to where that will stop popping up?

/bin/sh is kinda basic I wonder your system runs

Most scripts i.e. in /etc/init.d use it.

Strange

can you type

/bin/sh

or do

ls -l /bin/sh

maybe that rpm doesnt like softlinks

my /bin/sh goes to /bin/bash

ls -l /bin/sh
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4 Jan 29 2004 /bin/sh -> bash

case solved

http://rhlufaq.nllgg.nl/DOCS/rpms5.html

The error message is a bit of a misnomer. The actual explanation is that the rpm program itself is out of date. Before going any further you have to upgrade that. At the time of writing (Feb. 1998), the latest version is 2.4.10. The package can be foun d at: ftp://ftp.rpm.org/pub/rpm/dist/. Install this first and then your original package installation should run smoothly.

Now I remember why I hate RPM, the dependencies are a real hassel.. and each "dependencie" has their own.. so it takes for ever surfing the web hunting rpm files and getting everything going.. I think with all the help you guys posted I can get things taken care of, thank you
