Failed dependencies error with FC3

I am trying to apply a Firewire RPM to FC3. ( RPM is certified for FC1 and FC2). When I apply the RPM I get below message

#rpm -ivh --force kernel-2.4.21-15.ELorafw1.i686.rpm
error : failed ependencies kernel < 0:2.6 conflicts with udev-039-8.FC3-i386

Does this mean I cannot install this RPM on FC3? ( and go back to FC2) or the RPM is already a part of FC3?

I am a newbie to linux, so any help is greatly appreciated!

ok, i think you probably don't really know what this kernel file IS in the first place. that file you're trying to install is the very core of your system, you really don't want to do that unless you know what you're doing... and dropping from a 2.6 kernel to a 2.4 is a big step for a small bit of kit...

basically, whatever you're really trying to achieve, this isn't going to eb the way to do it. there will be a better way.
