Eye of Gnome Image View taking 100% CPU and tripping my thermal sensor

When I'm reviewing my photos for processing the EOG eats up 100% and when I'm on picture 90-100 it trips my thermal sensor and everything slows down to cool.

It seems EOG takes 1-2 seconds to process and the CPU spikes for 4-5 seconds or more. Does this happen for everyone or is it just me?

sorry but the only thing i've come up with so far is re-compile from source or find another viewer.
