Ext3 bad magic after upgrage FC1 to FC4

Dear All,

I am in a panic. I have a server with a 160G drive that was working on FC1 that was up to date using yum. I did an upgrade to FC4 and now I can not mount that fs any longer. I get a bad magic number and superblock.

I did mke2fs -n /dev/hde1 then
I did e2fsck -b xxxxx with no luck

I don't understand what I did to mess this up.

I am asking for your help because I have important files on this drive and do not have a backup. I am sick over this and would appreciate any help. Thank you.

I did mke2fs -n /dev/hde1 then

that formated the drive /dev/hde1
I hope that´s not the drive with the important files...

I did e2fsck -b xxxxx with no luck

makes sense, if the filesystem is corrupted

I don't understand what I did to mess this up.
