Exiting Fullscreen Hulu Video Causes program to restart.
Of the three computers I have, my personal one, the one I use the most, is the only one with this problem.
When watching Hulu programs in fullscreen and one program ends and the next starts without ever leaving fullscreen, if I then leave fullscreen that second video restarts, commercials et al. It's kind of annoying. Actually, it's the thing that bothers me the most right now.
I suspect that it has something to do with the Flash plugin, but I'm not sure why the other two computers don't have a problem.
I am fairly sure this is a problem with the Linux Flash player, as I have always had problems playing full-screen Flash video on my machine. In fact, I am not sure I can ever recall a time it worked without crashing Firefox.
Unfortunately, I have no idea why this is, or if there is a workaround for it. I would be interested in hearing from anyone who can shed some more light on it.
Well, I'm glad it's not crashing Firefox on me. With that alternative in mind, I'm not so upset about my machine's behavior. I'd still like to make it stop, though, especially since the other two don't do it.
Have you tried the Hulu desktop application for Linux? I know it still uses Flash for playback, but maybe they are using it in a slightly different way. Worth a shot, at least.
I have tried the desktop app, but not on this machine. Even if it did work fine, it doesn't really solve the problem for me because of the way I'm using the computer. The problem arises when I exit fullscreen to do something else for a second. If I never anticipated wanting to leave fullscreen during a program, I'd use the desktop app, or just leave fullscreen on. Either way would be fine and not cause the restarting issue.
