Unhappy exim is denying relay of my own mail

I am going out of my mind with frustration and my boss is even more furious with me than I am with exim. For days I can't get my fresh install of exim4 to work, despite the fact that I have deployed it in so many other instances with no problems whatsoever.

My problem is that I can't send out mail. I get a bounce back immediately that says something like...

"""Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 6/16/2006 7:25 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'[email address of recipient]@gmail.com' <'email@gmail.com'> on
6/16/2006 7:25 AM
550 relay not permitted"""
A message also appears in /var/log/exim4/rejectlog:
==> /var/log/exim4/rejectlog <==
2006-06-16 01:02:09 H=adsl-69-152-100-233.dsl.rcsntx.swbell.net (TAM) [
69.152.100.233] F=<xxxxxxx@gher.com> rejected RCPT <xxxxxxx@gmail.com>:
relay not permitted
My exim.conf is pasted in below. Please, /anyone/ help me!

Use Gmail as a Smart Host

I don't know exim - but google for "Use Gmail as a Smart Host" and you might find some tutorials zu setup exim.

Hope this helps.

Well where is your smart host ? the machine which connect to it is adsl-69-152-100-233.dsl.rcsntx.swbell.net it /should/ be a local address instead.
Secondly your IP address looks dynamical. If it is a fixed one ask your ISP to change your RDNS to your domain or else use your domain smtp as a smart host or else you will not be able to send mail to people who reject non static IP.

you probably have files named exim.conf.template and update-exim4.conf.conf in the upper directory . Read them will help very much.
You can also read /carefully/ the header of your exim.conf file too.
