Ive got exim working locally fine. I can send and receive fine. If I then use the smtp and pop3 external to where the mail server is, I can only send mail to reciepients at the domain of the mail server - its says 550 - can not relay mail for that domain - I want to be able to relay mail for all domains - otherwise I cant send mail to anyone except who has an account on my mail server - can anyone help me? You can add domains through /usr/sbin/eximconfig but I need it for all domains - otherwise I would need to keep changing the configuration

Well, you could always look at the EXIM FAQ, I know it answers this question for you in there.

However, to give you the short and skinny, in your configure file, there is a line that reads something like "hostlist relay_from_hosts" That's where you want to start looking. I seriously suggest you read through the configure file, the very basic stuff, like this, are easily answered.

well it actually ended up being:

relay_domains = *

trivial as this maybe, I couldn't find much assistance, plus the conf file wasn't much help either. I ended up just experimenting..
