Hey guys,
I'm working on a school system and did a clean install of Slackware 10.1. This will be an IRC chat server. When compiling any program, such as BitchX or ircd-hybrid, the error comes up "C compiler cannot create executables", etc. I researched it and never came up with the answer (mostly discussed were missing libs).
I tried installing gcc 3.3.4 again from the Slack10.1 CD because I thought the installer might have messed it up. At the end, it said,
Code:
"Executing install script for gcc-3.3.4-i486-1..."
root@irc:/mnt/cdrom/slackware/d#
Oh, well did you have a config.log file? Or have you fixed the problem? If you need help post the config.log.
I feel like a retard. I coincedently had to say the same thing about posting the config.log file in another thread.
And for the real answer, currently, I am at home and the systems are shutdown at school so I can't access them. I will post the config.log file tommorow.
Quote:
Is it trying to create the executables in /mnt/cdrom/slackware/d?
If it was, it would have gave an error such as file system is read-only, can not continue.
There is no config.log file for these operations besides the text that I had listed on my first post.
I had also read that thread but didn't think that could've been the solution. Currently, I tried installing make-3.80-i386-1.tgz and it gave the executing install script.... the same output.
