evolving/scaling NFS

Hi everyone,
I use Debian Squeeze with NFS. Don't want to centralize all files in one machine. What can be done in order to all files are distributed among computers with high availability and failover control (syncing files).
Should this improve file access performance?

regards

I wouldn't use file sync unless the NFS exports are read only and not vital - like images for a website. If you need read/write access then shared storage and clustering is the most common option.

cheers

There are many cluster systems that could be used although the most appropriate one really depends on your exact needs (users, capacity, available equipment etc) and your skill level.

One example you could take a look at is the Gluster file system which can be exported to NFS
