Make sure no other zombie or defunct processes of evolution are running already. I've had problems where it would crash and I had to kill all the leftover processes before it would startup again.

I have the same problem, on SuSE. Never been able to get Evolution to start. Can't add any other information. Just nothing happens when I try to run it.

How to kill these leftover processes? Please describe with your opinion/suggestion/remark as and when necessary.

I can't start it a first time :-) Odd that there's no error message or anything. Oh well, I've run into the same thing with Gush recently and it was from trying to run it on an unsupported OS (which shouldn't be the problem with Evolution though).
