Evolution upgrade worries

I'm currently running Evolution 1.2.2 and want to upgrade to 1.4...I'm afraid to do it because I'm fearful of losing all that stuff...is there any chance of wiping out all my information if I upgrade ? If so, what do I have to do to avoid losing anything ?

When you say you are fearful of "losing all that stuff", what are your referring to? Personally, I have gone through 2 upgrades with Evolution (which I love) without any problems to speak of. If you are concerned about possibly losing your old Email, I recommend you make a backup copy of your Email directories first, then you can safely upgrade and try to see how the new version works. If you run into problems, you can always roll back to the previous version, and then copy back your Email folders from the backup you made. As a general comment, it is always good practice to backup your data prior to doing any sort of signficant software upgrade. With CD-R's being as cheap as they are, burning a CD with your data is both fast, unobtrusive, and easy. As they say, it's far better to have something and not need it than the other way around. -- J.W.
