I've got this problem, Evolution and GAIM have waaay to big of screen font sizes... they're seriously like 16-18pt. On 1024 res, that's pretty dammed big. I'd be comfy with them being around 8 or 10. I did a forum search and found a related topic, someone told someone to use:

gnome-font-properties

Well i set that to like 2pt font and it's still looks exactly the same. I can't log into gnome from my login prompt, I have KDE, windowmaker, twm, and fvwm2. I only use KDE and the command line, so i don't know what the others do.

I heard this may be related to GTK font sizes, is this a possibility?

Ok, so i found a workaround... Not a solution why changing the font sizes doesn't change their size on screen, but a workaround... Just took my resolution down to 70 or so (odd enough, because i think my dpi is 88)

Wow.. I have the same problem. Might I inquire as to how you fixed it?

run gnome-font-properties and lower the resolution...

i'm running 9.1 now don't have the problem anymore
