Evolution email is extremely slow

I am running SUSE 9.0 and Ximian Evolution 1.4.6. In just the last few days evolution has been dragging. It takes forever for it to respond anytime I hit "send", "reply" or try to enter an address in the "to" line. I have also noticed that my Open Office stuff has been taking a long time to open as well. Can anyone offer any suggestions? If one of them is to upgrade evolution, please tell where I can get the latest download and any tips you can give me on upgrading without losing anything.

Thanks for helping a newbie!

I use ximian Evolution (beta). if I were you I would check my DNS settings. sometimes slowness can be caused by DNS problems.
