Evolution email client problem

Hi,
I have started using CentOS 5.5 as per the discussion with memebers in these forums and taking into consideration my last post. Now, my problem is with Evolution E-mail client. I configured the mail client as per the link mentioned below.
http://www.simplehelp.net/2007/08/11...ion-for-email/
After the configuration it shows me an error which states "Could not connect to pop3.xyz.com: Connection timed out". After some googling i found this post "http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=353243" the problem statement was exactly what i am facing. I followed the solution provided but still the problem persists.I also found this post "http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/evolution-setup-assistant-in-ubuntu-823461/" but still the problem is not solved. I tried to go through the file "dovecot.conf" but every line is "commented" and it got a bit confusing from which lines the comment needs to be removed.
Thanks.

Can you ping pop3.xyz.com
Can you connect using telnet?
Code:
telnet pop3.xyz.com 110
Is pop3.xyz.com using the standard port 110 or do they use another port, like ssl...

Kind regards

Seems to me the server is down, or a firewall is blocking port 110 outgoing.

Kind regards

Hi repo,
pop3.xyz.com is not the real name. xyz could be anything like "streamx" etc.

If you can't ping or telnet the server, seems to me the server is down, or a firewall is blocking the outgoing ports.
Did you try to contact them?
What is the name of the server, perhaps I can test from here.

Kind regards

Hi repo,
The remedy was not to give up but i was running out of patience so installed Thunderbird and did same settings as per Evolution and its working fine. The output for above command is as follows.

Trying 118.67.248.43...
Connected to pop.net4india.com (118.67.248.43).
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK Net4India Imap ready.

Just to state the obvious, is evolution online?
There is an option to work online or offline.
Quote:
File -> work on-line
Try to use the IP instead of pop.net4india.com in the settings from evolution.
As a last resort, I would upgrade to the latest version from evolution.

Kind regards
