Evolution and Usenet

Hi,
I have managed to configure evolution as Usenet newsreader, following this how-to here http://www.ensode.net/evolution_newsgroups.html. Now I'd also like to post to newsgroups I have subscribed to, but I'm not sure if evolution does this: whenever I create a new message, there is the "TO:" field... how do I send to newsgroups? I tried to enter the newsgroup name (e.g. it.diritto), but *that* didn't work.

TIA

I had a look at the evolution manual; it seems it is a newsreader only; in the meantime I have found PAN and I am really happy with it so this one is "solved".

I'm guessing you are using the "stable" version of Pan, 0.14.2. They did a full re-write since that was released, the current beta (0.132) is more stable and much better than the old version.

I am using 0.129 and it looks pretty stable to me.

Jack,

I was able to post to the Usenet with evolution that I installed with from Synaptic in SimplyMepis 6.5.02...

But I can not post any attachments with Pan 132 in my 64-bit Linux distro, how are you able to post an image to a binary NG using Pan?

I can post one or more smaller images with Knode, but since it appears Knewspost is not an active project have you located a Usenet Posting package for Linux with a GUI?

I find it difficult to believe there is not a number of Usenet posting program for the Linux operating system...

How does anyone post Linux Distro's with the par2 and SFV files to the Usenet? Or software packages that have been complied for distros?

Also can not locate what newsgroups are being used to distribute multi-media software complied for Debian packages. I would like a acquire a 64-bit version of gimp 2.4 using the etch/stable chain...

JR
