ettercap gtk mode doesn't work

fedora 9

i'm trying to install ettercap, if i install it with yum the gtk interface doesn't work, only works in the -C mode

"GTK-Interface not supported."

if i try to compile it from source i get the following error

checking for libpcap... no
configure: error: libpcap not found

i checked for libpcap and libpcap-devel they're both installed and updated

any ideas?

You can just install ettercap-gtk - no compiling required. It will install all dependencies if they are not already there.
