Eth0= no link

Hello,

I want to know why my NIC doesn't have link.
I've compiled the kernel 2.6.4.14 and when after I'm starting with the new kernel my eth0 doesn't have link. I have 2 NIC via rhine which are using the 8139too module.
Please help me, it's urgent!

Are the modules loaded (lsmod) or hardcompiled ?

What is the ouput of mii-tool ?

Do the LEDs of the Switch blink or not ?

Can your NIC ping itself ?

...
(in other words, give more info )

The 8139too module is for realtek nic cards, you should be using the Via Rhine driver. Module name is via-rhine.

Mad.

kernel

I found the problem. After I have compiled the kernel 2.6.14 the name of the NIC's changed. The eth0 became eth1 and eth1 became eht0. It's very strange!
