errors when I try to ./configure

I am trying to install bluefish-unstable-1.1.5 and am getting the following at the ./configure step.
Code:
checking for BFVAR... configure: error: Package requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.6 gmodule-2.0 >= 2.6 gobject-2.0 glib-2.0 pango gdk-pixbuf-2.0 gdk-2.0 gnome-vfs-2.0 >= 2.10 libxml-2.0 libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.6) were not met:

No package 'gtk+-2.0' found
No package 'gmodule-2.0' found
No package 'gobject-2.0' found
No package 'glib-2.0' found
No package 'pango' found
No package 'gdk-pixbuf-2.0' found
No package 'gdk-2.0' found
No package 'gnome-vfs-2.0' found
No package 'libxml-2.0' found
No package 'libgnomeui-2.0' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables BFVAR_CFLAGS
and BFVAR_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
I tried to install the packages via apt-get and get a package not found error. I am using Ubuntu 7.10 and am not exactly a command line guru so I apologize if I am missing something obvious here. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Todd

I don't know if that package is available in the repositories, but try the command
Code:
sudo apt-get install bluefish-unstable
See what that returns.

The next step then is installing all of those packages. Get typing!

Code:
sudo apt-get install gtk+-2.0 gmodule-2.0
I think you get the idea from there. It can't compile correctly because all of those packages are missing.
