error with FSCK.EXT2

hi all.. i need help to solved out my problem..
currently im using RD9..

here it is the error ..

Checking root filesystem
WARNING: Your etc/fstab does not contain the fsck passnofield. I will kludge arround things for you, but you should fix your /etc/fstab file as soon as u can.

fsck.ext2/:
The superblock could be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem.
If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystems ( and not swap pr ufs or something else ), then the
superblock is corroupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:

e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

: Is a directory while trying to open / [ FAILED ]

*** A error occured during the file system check/
*** Dropping you to shell; the system will reboot
*** when you leave the shell.
Give root password for maintenance
( or type Control-D to continue): ---------------

Hope anybody can help me

Despite the message of the fstab being wrong or misconfigured, you just might have a corrupted superblock.

A fesh install and install of LILo or Grub may fix this.

Try to mount it by hand from the shell, and see if its readable.
Backup your data and reinstall. Do not forget to remove any existing partitions.
Then format install after creating new partitions.

you may also be specifying the wrong blocksize, or your format/syntax is wrong for fsck.
