Question Error while running SNORT


i am trying to setup the snort IDS. but when i run in on the terminal the following error shows up.. what should i do?

Look in the cong file for this line
ERROR: ./snort.conf(256) => Invalid keyword 'preprocessor' for server configuration.
and change it

i tried removing all the codes beginning with "Preprocessor" and the subsequent errors that follow.. now i end up with the following error:

Did you installed from source?
Did you installed
snort snort-common snort-common-libraries snort-rules-default
I would suggest to use the packetmanager from your distribution to install snort
