Error while executing Babel Parser

I get an error message every time I'm trying to execute a certain application (the Babel system for syntactic and semantic parsing to be specific). It reads [FATAL ERROR: Could not open resource database "babel": Inappropriate ioctl for device]
I have absolutely no clue whatsoever what that is supposed to tell me and the internet could not give me a hint, either. I am using Ubuntu 10, by the way.
So if anyone here can make any sense of this, help would be appreciated.
