Error message in ./configure during the installation of Rosegarden-4-1.0

When compiling Rosegarden-4-1.0 from source, I get the following error during ./configure:
Code:
configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.1 (20021021)) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
I'm assuming this is something to do with lack of qt-devel libraries, but I believe I have them all installed. When I run
Code:
rpm -qa |grep qt
I get the following packages:
Code:
qt3-common-3.3.4-9mdk
lib64qt3-3.3.4-9mdk
lib64qt3-pch-headers-3.3.4-9mdk
lib64qt3-mysql-3.3.4-9mdk
pinentry-qt-0.7.1-4mdk
lib64qt3-devel-3.3.4-9mdk
lib64qt3-psql-3.3.4-9mdk
lib64qt3-odbc-3.3.4-9mdk
qt3-example-3.3.4-9mdk
lib64dbus-qt-1_0-0.23.4-2mdk
Anything I'm missing here?
I am running Mandriva 10.2 x86_64 RC, and have encountered this problem with other qt apps. Any advice is really, really appreciated, because I desperately need Rosegarden for recording purposes, but the version shipped with Mandriva is buggy as heck.

Thanks,
Loz

Try the slackware package here:
http://www.linuxpackages.net/pkg_details.php?id=5774
put it at the root of your system and unpack it recursively.

maybe you have to set a variable to point to your qt-dir.
like :

export qt-dir=/path/to/qt

type ./configure --help to find the right name for the qt-dir variable.

( could also be smth like "./configure --with-qtdir=/pathtoqt )

Thank you so much, that works... I had to run the following command:
Code:
./configure --with-qtdir=/usr/lib/qt3 --with-qt-includes=/usr/lib/qt3/include --with-qt-libraries=/usr/lib/qt3/lib64
I think Rosegarden hadn't accounted for a 64 build, that's all.
However, now I'm stuck on the following:

Code:
checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!
Do I really have to keep running variables in my commands so all the apps know where my libraries are stored or something?

you don't need such things for normal commands.
the configure-script needs to locate all libraries and header files that are needed to compile
the program.

you'll have to add smth. like : --with-extra-includes=/../kde/include,
and maybe also : --with-extra-libs=/../kde/lib
( /../kde is where kde is installed on your distro )

you also might want to add options wich tell the configure-script what sound driver to use,
like arts ( i don't use that ) , alsa or jack with alsa.

if you want to install more audio app.'s, "jack" ( with a gui "qjackctl " ) is a nice app. to
connect things together. ( like midi-sequencer, softsynth, etc... )
if you want to use jack, you'll have to install it before configuring rosegarden.

You might want to have a look at:

http://zynaddsubfx.sourceforge.net/

and

http://filter24.org/seq24

because I couldn't even get rosegarden to run for more than five minutes before it decided to
crash.

You might also want to stick with ZynAddSubFX-2.0.0: versions after this gave me glitches
with the base frequency oscillator taking every harmonic edit as additive (even when I was returning
the value to the original value, it added the difference between the current and original and added it
to the current...... lots of white noise and bleeding ears.)

Hope this helps,
~Cic

P.S. - You may also find http://www.hydrogenmusic.org/ interesting if you're looking for a drum machine.
Really, this is the best drum sequencer I've ever seen. (Granted, I haven't seen much =P )
