Error Loading Parted partition software

Hello. I want to resize my partition and I cant seem to run my newly installed parted software. I installed it then when I run the script "./parted" it pauses then gives me a message saying "No devices found". Im using Linux FC2. Would anyone be able to help? thanks

how did you install it that you have to run it using './parted'?

...anyways...

don't use parted, so not sure what good this is...

try
parted /dev/hda

or parted <device>

though the man page says it's optional...

aight thanks dude, its running now . Now it runs an error message "Cannot find device HDA1" when I try to resize. Do I have to run this program as root? Thanks

parted can not write to the same drive that is running Linux. You will have to use knoppix or something else. If you use parted to write to another drive besides your Linux drive, it will then work.

I think you are giving the partition. It only wants the block device which is /dev/hda not /dev/hda1. Yes, you have to run parted as root.
