Error compiling xchat

Hi there. I'm trying to compile XChat, but I'm getting an error when running 'make':
Code:
jez@jez64:~/xchat-2.4.0$ make

Making all in po

I don't have much of a clue what's gone wrong there, and I especially have no idea what "t-am.gmo" is. Google revlealed nothing.

Running Debian with kernel 2.6.8.1, if that helps.

Thanks for any suggestions.
