Error after upgrading to Red Hat 8.0

After Upgrading from Red Hat 7.2 to 8.0, when I try to run the informix database server (oninit), I get the following error:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/var/lib/libpthread.so.0: symbol __on_exit, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

libc.so.6 is a soft link in the /lib directory linking to libc-2.2.93.so.

Any ideas why I am getting this error or what I can do about it?
Thanks a bunch.

most possible a GCC incompatibility. RHL8.0 has the gcc 3.2 version and most applications compiled using the older gcc versions would most likely complain under RHL 8.0. u might need to recompile informix.

Recompiling Informix is not an option because source code is not available. Is it possible to have GCC 3.2 and 2.2 on the same machine at the same time and just point informix to the 2.2 Version? Forgive me if this is a stupid question.

Thanks.
