eroaster problems

I just installed Eroaster and tried to burn a test data cd. A window called ECLiPt opened up and showed a log of what was happening. After a lot of other verbage....I got the following error:

Performing OPC...
/usr//bin/cdrecord: Input/output error. send opc: scsi sendcmd: cmd timeout after 60.380 (60)s
CDB: 54 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
cmd finished after 60.380s timeout 60s
/usr//bin/cdrecord: OPC failed.
Writing time: 64.753s
/usr//bin/cdrecord: fifo had 7 puts and 0 gets.
/usr//bin/cdrecord: fifo was 0 times empty and 0 times full, min fill was 100%

Any ideas what the problem is?

By the way, I am running Mandrake 9.2 and KDE.
Thanks
