eroaster-2.0.12 run-time error

After wrestling with gnome-pythons of different species (1.4 and 1.99) and their sub-dependencies, I finally got eroaster-2.0.12 installed.

When I start it from the CLI in an xterm I get the following error:

Code:
carl@hudson:$ eroaster
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/eroaster", line 9, in ?
    from main import Application
  File "/usr/lib/eroaster/main.py", line 13, in ?
    raise ImportError, "DISPLAY environment variable not set"
ImportError: DISPLAY environment variable not set
carl@hudson:$
Any ideas how to remedy?

Eroaster is a *graphical* frontend, so you need X running to use it.

Thanks for trying to help -- this must be a hard one -- but if you look in my post I said I was starting eroaster from CLI in an xterm

nothing, just blank.

If it is pertinent, I'm logging in via gdm to a Fluxbox session. I think there are other Fluxbox users out there who are using eroaster, so don't know if that's an issue, but just thought I'd add that.

are you trying to do this as root?

Try the following

xhost +localhost

su -
<snter your root password>

export DISPLAY=loclahost:0

then run it again

hope that helps
